Welcome to the Montague Inn

Hidden away amongst the Somerset country lanes between Bruton and Wincanton, is the Montague Inn; a traditional 18th century country pub where everyone receives a warm welcome.

The cosy bar guarantees a warm and friendly atmosphere for that quiet chat or the simple enjoyment of the local ales and ciders. The tastefully furnished restaurant leaves you breathless with its space and huge picture windows opening onto the terrace and garden with wide reaching rural views.

Noted and awarded for local sourcing of food and drink, whether it be a homemade pie or an a la carte fine dining extravaganza, owners Sean and Suzy O’Callaghan with Head Chef Wayne Greenfield offer a seasonal menu from the very best of the South West.

A favoured meeting place, half-way to everywhere in the middle of nowhere. Come and visit us; with the family, the dogs or just on your own we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Dogs are allowed in the bar and on the terrace and garden, so please let us know if you intend bringing your dog, so we can accommodate you appropriately.

Although we appear well out in the country, attractions close by are: Haynes Motor Museum, The Newt in Somerset and Hauser and Wurth Gallery in Bruton.

Thoroughly enjoyed spending Christmas Day lunch at this pub. Easy to find, easy to park. Was a halfway meeting point with relatives. Absolutely ideal. Warm and welcoming, homely yet smart and relaxed. Superb food and service. So glad we booked it. All of our party enjoyed the food and we were able to choose from a lovely selection for those who wanted to avoid turkey. Can't fault any of it. Served piping hot and the freedom to help yourself to tea, coffee and chocolates before a long drive back was very welcome. Look forward to visiting again!

2nd visit year or so apart and still very good, steak chips and all the trimmings, pie mash and veg, trio of puddings all nicely cooked and presented.
Lovely village pub nicely tucked away in the Somerset countryside. 2 good real Ales, Bath GEM, Exmoor Gold. It is food orientated with plenty of room, but still places for locals to drink, including the lovely rear terrace with great views.
